Become a key player in Billerud's SAP Transformation journey as an IT Release Manager

Are you ready to take on a key role in a stable yet evolving industry? Billerud has recently launched a group-wide program that will modernize and harmonize our working methods, which includes introducing a new ERP system. We are therefore looking for several new colleagues with experience of SAP, including an IT Release Manager.

The IT Release Manager will be responsible for the planning, coordination, and governance of all SAP-related releases across our global IT environment.

This role involves overseeing SAP core systems and environments, as well as coordinating release planning and execution across other SAP-connected legacy systems, third-party applications, and complementary SAP solutions such as SAP BTP, IBP, Ariba, and others. This is a new role, providing the opportunity

 
In this role you will be responsible for:

Release and Change Management

• Coordinate release planning and execution across SAP and SAP-connected systems.
• Prioritize and allocate resources effectively to meet deadlines and resolve conflicts during release cycles.
• Serve as the central liaison for coordinating releases with SAP RISE operations and third-party AMS providers.
• Define and implement standardized release governance processes.
  
  
• Maintain and communicate a global release calendar to minimize business disruption.
• Oversee release cutover planning, dry-runs, validation, and post-deployment support readiness.

Process Development & Improvement

• Track and report on release health metrics.
• Drive the implementation of DevOps and CI/CD principles within release management.
• Ensure traceability and documentation in SAP Solution Manager and ITSM System.
  
  
  
  

You will be based at any of our sites in Sweden such as Gävle, Gruvön, Frövi, Skärblacka, Karlsborg or Stockholm, Solna.

Travels to our headquarters in Solna will occur and travels to North America may be required to support Release process and project activities.

We don’t offer relocation packages, and a Swedish work permit is requested for this position.

Kvalifikationer

To succeed in the role of IT Release Manager, we believe you have:

• Documented IT education at university level or equivalent.
• Extensive experience in Release Management, IT project management, or SAP administration, with experience focused on managing SAP landscapes.
  
  
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA, SAP Solution Manager, and ITIL processes.
• Demonstrated experience working with SAP RISE cloud environments and coordinating with third-party AMS vendors.
• Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines, automation, and integration in cloud-based environments.
• Practical understanding of DevOps and agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe).

Preferred certifications:

• ITIL Foundation or Advanced Certification.
  
  
• SAP certifications in relevant modules (e.g., SAP S/4HANA, SAP Cloud Platform).
• Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) optional.

Strong leadership and coordination skills are essential for orchestrating complex global release cycles across multiple systems and teams. The candidate should be structured and solution-oriented with a strategic mindset, able to navigate ambiguity, manage competing priorities and drive structured outcomes in dynamic environments. Additionally, the ability to manage vendor relationships and coordinate service delivery in a multi-provider landscape is crucial.
