Head of Accounting - Utility

The Utility business unit at Svea Solar is responsible for large-scale solar park projects. We have built over 50% of all solar parks in Sweden. We currently have 65+ projects in our pipeline - exciting times ahead!

We are now looking for our very first Head of Accounting to Utility. You will be a key player in building the Finance function for Utility. You will lead a team of two accountants and help establish the structure for the department.

We're looking for an experienced and senior accounting specialist who is eager to grow in a leadership role!

About the team

The goal for our Utility business unit is to become more independent. While Svea Solar Renewable Services currently supports us with financial matters, we are now building our own Finance function within the Utility division.

We already have two skilled accountants on the team, and now we are looking for a leader to guide them. You will report directly to the interim CFO for the Utility business unit David Timner.

The Utility team consists of around 50 “Power Shifters” (that’s what we call ourselves!). Together, we have built over 40 solar parks across five different markets.

We are an Independent Power Producer - meaning we produce and sell our own electricity directly to the market, independent of traditional energy companies.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead the team: Coach and develop two accountants, guiding them in their day-to-day work.
  • Managing Accounts: Oversee the accounting for 41 legal entities, both Swedish and foreign (in Cyprus, Italy, and Spain).
  • Day-to-day operations: Be actively involved in the daily accounting operations with the accountants on the team.
  • Tracking Financial Transactions: Manage various transactions between different parts of the business.
  • VAT Recovery: Work with tax authorities to recover VAT
  • Contact with external service providers: Currently, accounting for non-Swedish entities is handled by external partners. You will assess whether continuing this outsourcing arrangement is the best option moving forward.
  • Audit: Lead the team’s collaboration with our external auditors for interim and Annual report audits
  • Build Structure: Make sure the Utility business unit and your team have a good structure in place, including accounting principles, policies, routine descriptions and document storing in relation accounting matters.

Are we a match?

These experiences will help you have a great start with the role:

  • Proven track record in a senior accounting role.
  • Thorough understanding of financial regulations, accounting principles, and reporting standards.
  • Experience in developing and implementing new routines and processes.
  • Proficient in business communication in both English and Swedish.

  • Build Trust: Foster strong relationships and credibility within the team and the wider organization.
  • Drive Performance: Proven ability to set and achieve high-performance standards.
  • Communicate Effectively: Strong verbal and written communication skills to foster engagement in the team.

Good to have experience (not required):

  • Experience within an international group structure.
  • Background in large-scale utilities, industrial-scale projects, or similar construction environments.
  • Experience with financial systems, preferably NAV/Business Central.
  • Experience in a leadership role.
  • Experience in consolidation and group accounting.
