Lead Data Privacy Lawyer to SEB Privacy Office | Stockholm

About the Role 
The SEB Privacy Office is a support function within the SEB Group. Our main duty is to support and advice the first line organisations with privacy compliance advice and activities. As business partners we facilitate and manage the business risk from a privacy legal and compliance perspective to ensure corporate governance, legal compliance and high ethical standards in their handling of personal data.  
 
We are now looking for a business-oriented Lead Privacy Counsel to join the Privacy Office team to lead and support the privacy compliance efforts for SEB AB. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and evolving field and contribute to maintaining our organisation's commitment to privacy and data protection. 
 
What you will be doing 
As Lead Privacy Counsel, you will have the overall responsibility for providing privacy related legal advice and strategic counsel to SEB AB. The role as Lead Privacy Legal Counsel will require you to be operational in the daily duties. You, and the team you will leading, shall proactively provide expert privacy-related services to SEB AB business teams and continuously assess and document SEB AB’s processing activities and their related risk assessments. In addition, the Privacy Office is engaged in enhanced business development aimed at futureproofing the privacy-related work. As Lead Privacy Legal Counsel, you will be involved in the planning, steering and execution of this work. Your reporting line is to the Head of Privacy. 
 
Who we are looking for:  
We’re looking for a collaborative and adaptable person who thrives in ambiguity and can handle shifting priorities with patience and composure. You are intellectually curious, proactive, self-driven, and open-minded. You manage multiple projects effectively and adjust legal advice based on changing priorities, regulations, and risk. 
 
As Lead Privacy Legal Counsel, you will lead, coordinate, and align a team of Privacy Legal Counsels. A genuine interest in leadership and team development, aligned with SEB’s leadership values, is essential. 

Additionally, we believe you have:

  • A Swedish LL.M. degree or equivalent European qualification
  • At least seven years’ experience as in-house counsel or at a law firm, with strong data privacy expertise
  • Leadership experience (preferred)
  • Strong ability to collaborate and work independently under pressure
  • Proven experience managing stakeholders at mid to senior levels
  • Deep knowledge of GDPR and a solid compliance mindset
  • Familiarity with IT and Cyber Security (a merit)
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to convey complex issues clearly
  • A hands-on, solution-oriented mindset and a positive, engaged attitude
  • Proficiency in the M365 suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
