Lead Engineer - Electrical Power Grid Safety

We are now expanding our organization with a new team within Electrical Safety Solutions and are looking for a Lead Engineer in Electrical Power Grid Safety with expertise in breakers/bypass systems.

Role and responsibilities
As Lead Engineer in a newly created team based in Vårgårda, you will work on HVDC/MVDC applications that protect systems producing, storing, and converting electricity. These systems include energy transmission stations, converter stations, energy storage systems, and more, both for medium- and high-voltage requirements. You and your colleagues will be responsible for designing advanced breakers and shutters that protect other equipment in the system. Given the need for rapid closing or opening of electrical circuits, our pyrotechnical solution is key. You will lead the electrical part of the design and development of these breakers/bypass systems, ensuring their safety, reliability, and compliance with industry standards from an electrical perspective.

You have the potential to lead the technical & product strategy of HVDC/MVDC circuit breakers and bypass systems. You’ll be a natural contact point for high-level management when they need expert guidance in the field of high/medium voltage breakers and bypass technology. You will focus on driving innovation and advancing the products and solutions, working across all stages of the product lifecycle—from concept through deployment. As a lead engineer, you’ll oversee complex projects that demonstrate advanced technical proficiency. You’ll guide, mentor, and share your knowledge with other engineers, helping them excel in developing cutting-edge products. Your role will also involve in-depth development in your specialized area, continuously advancing HVDC/MVDC breaker technology.

Who are you?
We are looking for our next colleague who would like to potentially lead and guide the technical strategy for the products and solutions, taking responsibility for overseeing the entire product. To be successful in this role you probably have a B.Sc or M.Sc in Electrical Engineering or Power Electronics. You should have extensive hands-on experience with HVDC/MVDC breaker and bypass technologies, and a deep understanding of electrical arcing and its implications on system design and performance.

To succeed in this role, you need to demonstrate proven leadership and project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities. You should have a strong technical background and be product oriented, coupled with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
