Senior Technical Architect, Cloud

We are looking for an experienced Senior AWS Architect to join our team at Fortum. This is an opportunity to shape Fortum’s cloud strategy while working in a supportive environment that values continuous learning and professional growth.

In this position you can be based in our offices in Solna, Espoo or Wroclaw. 

About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior AWS Architect to join our team at Fortum. In this role, you will own and manage our AWS platform, ensuring its optimal performance, security, and scalability. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on platform engineering, automation, and operational work. This role offers the opportunity to lead and shape our cloud strategy, providing technical leadership and guidance on best practices for cloud architecture. You will be part of the CloudOps & Platform Engineering team, a collaborative group that supports professional growth and development.

Key Responsibilities in the role as Senior Technical Architect: 

• Own and manage the AWS platform, ensuring its optimal performance, security, and scalability.
• Design and implement cloud infrastructure solutions that meet business requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate cloud infrastructure with existing systems.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance on best practices for cloud architecture.
• Implement and promote DevOps practices, including continuous integration, continuous delivery, and infrastructure as code.
• Automate cloud infrastructure management to ensure efficiency and reliability.
• Perform operational work to maintain and support cloud infrastructure.
• Monitor and optimize cloud infrastructure to ensure cost-efficiency and reliability.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest AWS services and technologies.

About you

• Proven experience as an AWS Architect or similar role.
• In-depth knowledge of AWS services and architecture.
• Several years of work experience in cloud architecture or related fields.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant area or equivalent work experience.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure management and automation tools.
• Strong understanding of DevOps practices and automation.
• Strong understanding of security best practices in cloud environments.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Knowledge of Azure and/or OCI is a plus.
• Proficiency in other infrastructure technologies, including virtualization, storage solutions, and operating systems, is also an advantage. 
• Fluency in English. Fluency in one of the Nordic languages are considered a plus.
