As a graduate trainee at Westermo you participate in a tailor-made program that lasts for 12 months. As a global company we offer you the possibility to gain experience and grow in an international context.

Through our graduate trainee program, we offer you an opportunity to gain a deep understanding of the business and personal development such as stress resilience and leadership skills. Becoming a trainee with us means that you are building a professional network for the future. Through various meetings and collaborations, you form strong relationships, often for life. As part of the program, you will have a mentor to guide you through your daily tasks.

During the graduate trainee program, you will, among other things, have opportunity to:

• Work based learning experience at different parts of the organisation
• Practice within various departments
• Participate in courses on different topics
• Visit and work in the Stora Sundby factory
• Explore the Westermo Academy-courses
• Discover how Westermo approaches everything from business development to sustainability work.

Right from the start, you are employed within a specific department and after the end of the program this department becomes your base within Westermo. You are thus gradually integrated into your new role, which means that after 12 months you are already ready for a regular position such as supervisor, manager, or specialist.

About the program

Period 1 – Your base of operations

At the start of the program, you are employed in a specific department, and once the program is completed, this department becomes your base of operations within Westermo.

Period 2 – Explore other departments

In the second part of the program, you will gain knowledge and expand your network. Your future career at the company will be enhanced by the knowledge and skills you gain here.

Period 3 – Abroad assignment

In the third part of the program, you will be stationed abroad. This will give you the opportunity to learn our business from different perspectives, gain international experience and to grow.

Are you our new Graduate Trainee?

Westermo is looking for three trainees to join us in September 2023. If you have an interest in the tech industry, are curious and openminded, and eager to start your career after graduation- this is your chance to a flying start!

The trainee program is about a year long, and is filled with both on-the-job-training, as well as other development activities and trainings. Most of the activities will be planned, but as a trainee, you and your colleagues in the program can also suggest and plan activities that you find interesting. You will start in your permanent position from day one, but during the program, you will be able to try out different positions that will boost your experiences, skills and opportunities. You will have a manager and a separate mentor to support you through the program. Two of the roles will be located in Västerås and one in Stora Sundby. The program will also have participants in other countries, making this a global program where you will meet in person and online during the course of the program.

The three positions within the Graduate Trainee Program are the following:

• Software Engineer (Västerås): We are looking for a passionate developer to the software team! A team player that gets energy from digging deep into complex technical context, just as much as seeing and understanding the bigger picture. We believe that a degree in software engineering, IT, engineering physics, Robotics or similar suits this position and it’s great if you are into Embedded systems, Networks, Linux environment and C-programming. If you are not, don’t worry – you’ll learn.
• Marketing (Västerås): For this role, we are looking for someone to work with increasing our brand awareness. You have a ”digital first” mindset, and a positive self-starter attitude. Having a knowledge-sharing mindset is also a great asset! The position involves planning and creating engaging sales and marketing content for internal and external audiences in various formats, such as text and visuals.
  A suitable background is a B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Marketing/Communication or similar. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Swedish is a must, other languages is a plus!
• Production and Logistics Developer (Stora Sundby, Eskilstuna): For this role, we are looking for someone who is excited about the development in Industry4.0, Change Management, is innovative, organized, and structured. We believe that a suitable degree would be one in Industrial Engineering, Production Engineering or similar.

You will start the trainee program in one of these roles. During the program, you will have the opportunity to try other positions and trainings that will develop your skills and competences in the area. After the program is over, you will get back to the role, more skilled and ready to take on the challenges in the area.

 

To qualify for the trainee program, these are our requirements:

• You have a B.Sc. or M.Sc. in the relevant field for the position you apply to.
• You have no more than 2 years of relevant working experience since graduating.
• You sympathize with our values; Teamwork & Trust, Integrity & Ownership, Innovation & Learning and Customer Focus & Quality.
• You have very good communication skills in English & Swedish, both written and spoken.
